Overview
TCB Industrial is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team. This position is ideal for candidates with mechanical or hydropower field experience who want to transition into estimating and project support. The Junior Estimator will assist in preparing take-offs, cost breakdowns, and bid documentation for hydroelectric and industrial mechanical projects under the direction of senior estimators.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify mechanical scope.
• Perform quantity take-offs for piping, valves, structural steel, and mechanical assemblies.
• Help collect and organize vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Support the preparation of proposals, clarifications, and pricing summaries.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field supervisors to verify production rates and constructability.
• Maintain historical pricing files and project cost records.
• Participate in internal bid reviews and handoff meetings.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of mechanical or industrial construction experience (field or office).
• Understanding of mechanical systems such as turbines, gates, valves, and piping.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Bluebeam or AutoCAD a plus.
• Strong math, communication, and organizational skills.
• Eager to learn cost estimating, planning, and pre-construction workflow.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

Preferred

• Previous internship or field experience in hydro, power generation, or heavy mechanical projects.
• Exposure to reading drawings and interpreting specifications.
• Desire to grow into an Estimator or Project Engineer role within TCB.
