Overview
TCB Industrial is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations for hydroelectric and powerhouse mechanical projects throughout California. The Superintendent will oversee daily site activities, manage craft labor, coordinate with Project Management, and ensure all work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires extensive hydromechanical experience and strong leadership in field execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily field operations for turbine, gate, valve, and mechanical rehabilitation projects.
  • Direct and coordinate crews, foremen, and subcontractors to meet schedule and production targets.
  • Implement and enforce TCB’s safety program, conduct daily tailboards, and verify JSA compliance.
  • Review drawings, lift plans, and rigging diagrams to ensure proper execution of critical lifts and mechanical installations.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and client representatives on technical and logistical issues.
  • Track quantities, manpower, and equipment utilization; report progress and potential issues daily.
  • Verify material deliveries, inspect workmanship, and maintain site documentation.
  • Support training and mentorship of craft employees to maintain consistent safety and quality performance.
  • Lead site mobilization, demobilization, and turnover processes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of mechanical or hydromechanical field experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven background in turbine, valve, and large mechanical equipment installation or rehabilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of rigging, alignment, welding, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and rigging schematics.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification required.
  • Willingness to travel to remote project sites throughout California.

Preferred

  • Experience working under DSOD/FERC regulations and with utilities such as TID, MID, SMUD, or PG&E.
  • Familiarity with OEM documentation and specifications (Voith, GE, Andritz, etc.).
  • Competence with Bluebeam, Excel, and digital daily report systems.
