Overview
TCB Industrial is seeking a skilled Mechanical Foreman / General Foreman to lead field crews on hydroelectric and powerhouse mechanical projects throughout California. The Foreman is responsible for coordinating daily tasks, supervising craft labor, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining productivity in alignment with project schedules and quality standards. This position requires extensive hands-on hydro-mechanical experience and the ability to lead by example in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct daily work activities for mechanical crews, including millwrights, pipefitters, and ironworkers.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and lift plans to execute mechanical installations.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent, Project Engineer, and Project Manager on daily production goals.
- Conduct daily tailboard meetings, enforce safety procedures, and complete JSA documentation.
- Verify field measurements, equipment placement, and alignment during installation.
- Monitor progress, productivity, and material usage; provide daily reports to supervision.
- Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
- Train and mentor craft employees to maintain TCB’s culture of safety, quality, and precision.
- Assist in planning manpower, equipment, and material needs ahead of scheduled work.
Qualifications
- 7–12 years of hydro-mechanical or heavy industrial construction experience.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience as a Foreman or Leadman.
- Strong background in turbines, gates, valves, and piping systems.
- Proficient in rigging, alignment, and mechanical assembly practices.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, rigging diagrams, and understand tolerances.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout California.
Preferred
- Experience under DSOD/FERC oversight and with major utilities (TID, MID, SMUD, PG&E).
- Familiarity with OEM equipment standards (Voith, Andritz, GE).
- Basic computer proficiency for daily reports and timesheets.
