Overview
TCB Industrial is offering internship opportunities for students pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting project engineers and field teams on active hydroelectric and mechanical construction projects. This internship provides exposure to estimating, scheduling, field coordination, and quality control while working alongside experienced professionals in both office and site environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Engineers and Managers with submittals, RFIs, and documentation.
  • Support estimating and take-off tasks using drawings, specifications, and cost data.
  • Attend site visits and help gather field measurements, photos, and progress data.
  • Prepare reports, as-built documentation, and closeout packages.
  • Participate in safety meetings, tailboards, and project planning sessions.
  • Perform data entry, spreadsheet updates, and file organization for project records.
  • Learn construction sequencing, mechanical systems, and hydro project logistics.
  • Observe field operations to understand mechanical installation, rigging, and testing practices.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree program.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and have reliable transportation to the Modesto office or job sites.

Preferred

  • Previous internship or hands-on construction experience.
  • Interest in hydropower, industrial, or mechanical system design.
  • OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it before field assignments.
